Franse industrie krimpt minder hard maar blijft in recessie

De Franse industrie is in januari opnieuw gekrompen maar wel een stuk minder hard dan in de maand ervoor. Dit bleek maandag uit cijfers van S&P Global.
De inkoopmanagersindex voor de industrie steeg van 41,9 in december naar 45,0 afgelopen maand.
“De Franse verwerkende industrie blijft in een diepe recessie”, aldus econoom Tariq Kamal Chaudhry van Hamburg Commercial Bank.
De productie in Frankrijk krimpt nu al 32 maanden op rij en vooral het politieke klimaat is bijzonder zorgwekkend voor de sector, aldus de econoom.
Een indexstand groter dan 50 wijst op groei, terwijl minder dan 50 krimp betekent.
